Meet Kurt
If ever there were a coffee company built around a simple but powerful idea, it's Volcano Coffee Works.
Founded in 2010 by Kurt Stewart, they started out with a vintage Italian cart in South London. Today they've grown into a full roastery, café and team of around 45 people, all driven by a mission to make coffee that’s better tasting, kinder to the earth, and fairer to the people who grow it.

Brewing with purpose
Volcano combines high standards with heart. They roast in small batches and pay farmers well above fair-trade rates. They’re also a certified B Corporation, continuously raising the bar for social and environmental performance. In 2025 they scored 93.1, placing them in the top 30% of B Corps globally. Their ethos is summed up in their motto: “everyone deserves a fair shot.”
And crucially, Volcano champions a “coffee without the snobbery” ethos. They believe speciality coffee shouldn’t feel exclusive or intimidating, but welcoming. Their approach is flavour-first and people-friendly, helping everyone, from seasoned coffee drinkers to those just starting out, discover a cup they’ll love without the jargon.
Spend 5 minutes with the team in their Brixton HQ and you'll realise immediately that they mean this. Outstanding coffee is for everyone.
