How it works
Buy the products you normally get at the supermarket, in home compostable packaging.
Grocery refills use to be the norm, we believe they will be again.
We make it easy by taking care of the whole no-soft-plastic bit. All you need to do is enjoy your products, then return our home compostable bags directly to the soil in your compost, or you can freepost them bag for us to take care of.
Here's how it works in five easy steps.
Step one: order your products
Choose from our rapidly expanding range of ethically sourced and mostly organic products.
This bit is like a regular online shop - pick your sizes, add to basket and checkout!
Be sure to check back often as new products are added on a regular basis.
Step two: delivery
Your products are delivered through the post using the Royal Mail, the UK's greenest delivery option for letters & parcels.
We use sustainably sourced and reused cardboard boxes that go in your paper recycling.
The boxes are secured using activated kraft paper tape. The glue is potato starch, activated by water so there is no plastic film, no synthetic resins, no solvents - just kraft paper and starch, both plant-derived and compostable. The starch fibres bond directly into the cardboard, so the whole parcel breaks down as a single piece.
Our labels are also TUV OK Compost Home certified and paper recyclable - the paper, ink & glue.
Step three: enjoy your products
You can decant your products into your own containers, or use them straight from the bag.
For anything with moisture in it - dried fruit, for example - we'd suggest decanting into a sealed container if you're not planning to use it quickly.
Once our packaging has done its job of getting the product safely to you, it's designed to break down (that's the whole point!) and moisture speeds that up.
Step four: compost your bags!
Our packaging is a TUV OK Compost Home certified Natureflex film and kraft paper combination.
Natureflex is a transparent film made from cellulose - the same plant fibre that makes up the cell walls of trees and plants. The wood pulp is sourced from FSC-certified forests, processed into a clear, flexible film, and certified home compostable to international standards.
When it breaks down, it returns to what it came from: water, carbon dioxide, and biomass that feeds the soil. No microplastics, no synthetic residues, no forever chemicals.
Remember to scan the QR codes to make sure you get your Loopies (points).
Step five (optional): return for composting instead
Not everyone has a home compost bin or heap, and allotment waiting lists are long!
Please don't put the bags in your food waste bin - council facilities filter bags out as they can't be sure what they are made of and they get stuck in their machines.
To solve this infrastructure challenge, we've developed a return loop. Save up your empties and then post them bag to us in the included, prepaid return envelope.
We'll scan them back in before sending them to be composted, and you'll get your Loopies (points) as a reward!
